ENGIM’s strategy for developing hybrid classrooms was formulated during a training event held in Berlin at ABU. This strategy, outlined in the ENGIM Development Plan for 2022-2025, focuses on several key phases to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of hybrid education within the organization.

Phase 1: Organizational Cultural Change The foundation of ENGIM’s development strategy involved promoting a cultural shift within the institution. This phase aimed to recognize hybrid classrooms not as a temporary solution but as a permanent and valuable evolution of the educational model. Awareness-raising initiatives, leadership engagement, and internal dialogue were crucial in supporting a shared vision around digital transformation. Emphasis was placed on accepting change and fostering a mindset open to innovation among both management and educational staff.

Phase 2: Technological Equipment Building on the cultural foundation, ENGIM made significant efforts to upgrade its technological infrastructure. This included acquiring digital devices suitable for hybrid teaching, such as interactive whiteboards, cameras, microphones, and connectivity tools, and optimizing learning platforms. The goal was to ensure technical readiness and equitable access to digital tools across all training centers, creating a robust and flexible digital learning environment.

Phase 3: Involvement of Teachers and Students Central to the success of the hybrid approach was the active engagement of teachers and students. ENGIM implemented targeted training programs to build digital and pedagogical competences among educators, following the DigCompEdu framework. Simultaneously, students were guided in developing the digital literacy and autonomous learning skills necessary for successful participation in hybrid contexts. Pilot experiences were launched to test learning designs, gather feedback, and promote a sense of ownership among stakeholders.

Phase 4: Integration of Hybrid Classrooms in Standard Approaches The final phase focused on institutionalizing the hybrid model within ENGIM’s standard operational and pedagogical practices. Hybrid classrooms were no longer treated as isolated experiments but were embedded in curricular planning, assessment strategies, and quality assurance mechanisms. This integration ensured scalability, long-term sustainability, and alignment with national and European frameworks for digital education. The hybrid approach became part of ENGIM’s strategic vision for inclusive, flexible, and future-oriented learning.
