 Hybrid Strategy

The hybrid strategy of VUC Storstrøm was developed through the first transnational training in the HAVE project, which stands for Hybrid Classrooms in Adult and VET Education. This project is part of the Erasmus+ program and aims to strengthen the ability to provide high-quality teaching in hybrid classrooms

The strategy was crafted by Martin Lasse Hansen Sieben, Head of Development Rasmus Kjær Kristiansen, Head of Nykøbing F Department Charlotte Ellis, and Development Consultant Pernille Skov Sørensen.

Goals of the Hybrid Strategy:

The strategy set ambitious targets to transform the educational approach at VUC Storstrøm:

  • 70% of all classes to be hybrid: This means that the majority of classes would combine in-person and online learning, allowing students to participate from different locations.
  • 50% of all classrooms to have a hybrid set-up: Half of the classrooms would be equipped with the necessary technology to facilitate hybrid teaching, including cameras, microphones, and digital tools.
  • 50% of all guiding consultations to be virtual: This goal aimed to make half of the consultations between teachers and students virtual, enhancing accessibility and flexibility.
  • 100% of teachers to be capable of teaching in a hybrid setup: Ensuring that all teachers are trained and proficient in hybrid teaching methods and technologies.

Desired Outcomes:

The strategy aimed to achieve several key outcomes:

  • Knowledge Sharing: One of the primary goals was to share the knowledge and experience gained at VUC Storstrøm with other educational institutions in Denmark, Europe, and Africa. This would help spread best practices and innovative approaches to hybrid teaching.
  • Enhanced Accessibility: By implementing the HAVE project, VUC Storstrøm sought to make education more accessible to students who might face challenges attending in-person classes, such as those in rural areas or with special needs.
  • Improved Learning Experience: The hybrid strategy aimed to leverage technology to create a more engaging and interactive learning environment, enhancing the overall educational experience for students.
  • Professional Development: Training teachers to effectively use hybrid teaching methods would improve their professional skills and adaptability, ensuring they can meet the diverse needs of their students.

Implementation and Impact:

The hybrid strategy was part of a broader effort to modernize and innovate the educational offerings at VUC Storstrøm. By integrating technology into the classroom, the institution aimed to provide flexible, high-quality education that meets the demands of the modern world. The strategy also aligns with VUC Storstrøm’s vision to be a leading educational institution known for its high-quality teaching and innovative approaches.
